Skedy — The Smart Shift and Employee Management App

Skedy is our in-house app project designed to empower businesses with seamless shift scheduling and employee management. It enables business owners to create and manage shifts effortlessly while offering employees tools to track work hours, wages, and leaves. The AI-powered voice assistant sets Skedy apart by allowing users to execute tasks via voice commands. The app is set to launch soon.

Challenges

    Managing employee shifts with minimal errors was a significant pain point for many businesses. The complexity of overlapping schedules and miscommunications often led to inefficiencies and employee dissatisfaction.
    Reducing the complexity of workforce management required a solution that balanced functionality with simplicity. Many existing tools were either too basic or overly complicated for small business needs.
    Providing a user-friendly tool for both owners and employees meant addressing diverse technical proficiencies while ensuring intuitive navigation and accessibility.
    Differentiating the app through unique features was necessary to stand out in a competitive market. The challenge was to innovate while maintaining practicality and ease of use.

Design System

The design system for Skedy was meticulously crafted to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adaptability across the application. Typography choices prioritized readability while maintaining a modern and professional aesthetic. A well-balanced color palette, combining neutral tones with strategic highlights, was chosen to align with the app's functionality and branding.

Reusable UI components were designed to ensure a cohesive look and feel while streamlining the development process. Icons and imagery were intentionally kept simple and relatable to guide users intuitively. Additionally, variables were used to define light and dark modes, enabling seamless adaptability for diverse user preferences and environmental conditions.

AI Integration

After finalizing the core designs and workflows, the voice assistant feature was conceptualized as a way to enhance functionality. It was added later in the process to keep the initial design focused and simple. The AI-powered voice assistant was designed to execute tasks like scheduling and wage tracking through natural language processing (NLP), enabling users to interact with the app more intuitively and efficiently.
